WHAT TYPE OF THERAPY?
When working with people therapeutically, we use the approach that best fits the person and their difficulties. This tends to be in a short-term focused way, typically working for six sessions and then reviewing where the client feels they are in relation to the goals they set at the start of therapy and booking further sessions as needed. This can be achieved using:
-
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
-
Trauma Focused CBT
-
Narrative Therapy
-
Mindfulness
-
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
-
Compassion Focused Therapy
-
Eye Movement De-sensitation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
-
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT-A)
-
Schema Therapy
-
Non -Violent Resistance (NVR) training

Some people are clear from the beginning what treatment they would like, whilst others prefer to be guided. Dr Keyes & her team always consider what evidence there is for the approach being used and how effective it is likely to be for the individual. Sometimes it is helpful to draw on different elements from differing approaches ('eclectic/integrative therapy'). Treatment options and their pros/cons will always be discussed with you, so that you can make an informed decision.
